Wow that is a really open ended question and depends if you are 1 wk post-op vs 8 wks post-op? You need to keep the site clean and dry, but then as it heals you need to wash it good with soap and water just as you would any other type of cut. Initially, You will have most pain with pinching , gripping motions. You should have been given clear instructions on stretching exercises etc...If you feel you need work restrictions, you need to talk with your provider and employer. Most people are able to get along pretty well at about 6-8 wks..but again it depends on occupation..desk work vs brick layer.
