--A writer.
If you want to become a writer, you are logically dealing with words. Therefore, it is best to study your native language -- become an English major let's say.
A curriculum which teaches you the mechanics of your language, guides you through the reading of classic works of literature, and workshops writing of your own is ideal.
But remember, a writer need not necessarily go to school to become a writer. Writing itself is a skill which is honed by doing. Write whenever you have time. And read, and read, and read. Stephen King in ON WRITING says to read over 70-80 books a year (which includes listening to books on CD and audio tape).
