Canada gives tax breaks and subsidies to productions to move from the us to Canada. and in the past there was the fact that the us dollar was worth more. now not so much.
it does lead to a certain blandness as they try to disguise locations as stand in for American locations. you can pretty much tell these days whats filmed in Canada, theres a general annoying blandness in sets/cities/and the accent.
