Those are badly designed slide shows. A properly designed presentation should not have too much text on the slides. It should be possible to read the text and for the person giving the presentation to give more details through what they say. Alternatively the person who is writing the text should think it out carefully and write things with less words or spread out the text on to more slides.
The main working is done in the work space. The editing text of slides is done there.
Master slides are the format of slides. Choosing a master slide lets you choose a default setup for that particular slide. For example, one master slide may contain a title and body of text. Another may contain a title, body of text, and a spot for an image. Master slides make it easier to set up slides without resizing text boxes and images.

You should try to keep the text to a minimum and talk when doing the presentation to get the information to the audience. If there is a lot of text, people won't take it all in. So it is good to use key points and have them on the slides and then explain them or spread details out over several slides.
