Bank 1 is the same side of the engine that cylinder 1 is on

When sitting in the car, bank 1 is the right side of engine, bank 2 is left side.
Bank 1 on that Town car would be the passenger side of the engine. Bank 1 Sensor 1 would be the first O2 sensor in the passenger side exhaust after the engine but before the catalytic converter.

Bank 1 (one) is the side in front of car (Bank 2 is rear, firewall side) 02 sensor 1 is upstream, on exhaust manifold (02 sensor 2 is downstream, by cat. conv.)
Cylinders 1-2-3 are on the passenger's side. Cylinders 4-5-6 on on the driver's side. It would seem logical to assume that bank 1 was on the passenger's side of the car.
