To make a young adult, either send a teen or group of teens to college from the main neighborhood screen, send a teen to college using the phone in a house (check for scholarships first!), or make them from scratch in Create A Sim from the University neighborhood screen.
If you move them into a dorm, claim rooms quickly; special Townies called Dormies will show up and take the other rooms! Only your controllable Sims will live in rental housing.
Once your Sim goes to class, he or she will meet the 2 Professors for his or her major. Your Sim can call any Professor or Dormie using the College Directory option on the phone.
