Leaf beetle is a very broad term used to describe the family of beetle Chrysomelidae. There are over 35,000 species of leaf beetle in more that 1,500 genera, making it one of the largest and most commonly encountered family of beetle. Due to the large size and extent of family members, these leaf beetles are found right around the world in almost all types of climates and habitats.
If by leaf beetle you mean the species, then they eat a type of leaves that their elytron( front wing) and hind wing are modeled after. I belive theyre also called stick bugs. If By leaf beetles you mean herbivoor beetles, they eat vegititation appropriate to their size.
