There are many different breeds of cats, so weight varies. The heaviest cats weigh about thirty pounds. I have had Maine coon cats that weighed around 15 pounds at their prime. Other cats are under 7 pounds at maturity. Cats can also be longer or shorter. My Turkish Angora is 36" from nose to tip of his tail.

A female tuxedo cat usually should weigh no more then 8 pounds. It is a very small cat, average house cats weigh ten pounds. If it is a mix of some bigger cat then it's normal to be over that size. Also males will be a little bigger. Generally as long as when you touch your cat and you can feel their ribs but there not exactly jutting out then they are healthy. Kittens have what's called kitty fat which is normal. They will probably grow out of it as they grow older.
