If you are referring to a Deville, you need a specialized vented battery. That I believe is 14-15 volts. Dont use anything other than this specific battery. I have seen damaged caddys because of it.
just take it to a garage. Size is 35. it costs like 80 bucks,and when u bring old battery -you get $12 back.If u have high mileage just take 26R-VL
Disconnect the battery cables (should have a Hex or Phillips nut) Disconnect safety restraint bolt (should be same size as battery cable nut Take out old battery & take it to the store for recycling (and a few bucks) Buy new battery Reverse instructions to put it in.
Not positive about the 2000, but in my 1999 they had to take off the front passenger tire to change the battery.
Most take a 6 volt battery.
