The BlackBerry Curve 8350i was made to be space efficient. There are no downloads available as to re-size the typing pad. Perhaps waiting for a newer BlackBerry would be an option.
Blackberry is a quality and professional phone, their BBM feature is a huge plus for blackberry users. all blackberry phones are good in a quality sense but i have heard problems of their internet and the size of their screen. Personally id invest in an iphone.
