well, the owner of the shop went to a café. in that café she was reading a book, and in that book there was a lady called miss holliscare, this named she liked a lot and she put up posters on her wall saying 'I love holliscare' then one day she spelt holliscare wrong! she accidently spelled It like this: Hollister. and from then on, she liked that name. so she wanted to name a clothing brand that name. so that is why Hollister is called Hollister! the end!

Does hollister have higher quality clothes than abercrombie?
In my opinion, yes. I have been shopping at hollister for years, And i have never seen any holes in any of the clothes i have bought(which is alot). They also have lower prices and better fitting jeans. On the other hand, i bought a 21$ shirt at abecrombie, and it looked great, but in the inside of their shirts(at least guys shirts) they sew a tab on the inside, which has the logo, the size, and where the shirt is made. and "muscle" on the inner neckhole. All the corners of the big logo tab had HUGE HOLES (i can put my thumb in it huge) and smaller, yet visible holes on the tab that says muscle on it(this is not a reason to not like the company, which i do, but this tee shirt in particular was not worth $21. Abercrombies prices are a bit ridiculous,(for example, jeans on clearance for $60) and full price jeans (mens at least) can go up to 200$ compared to hollister at full price usualy no more than 60$ and most jeans are $30-40 full price and can get as low as $10- on clearance. Overall, personally i prefer hollister to abercrombie, but it is your decision to like abercrombie or hollister or niether better;)
