It really doesn't matter, unless you're looking to be in one of the scientific fields (e.g., forensics, behavioral science, art, ballistics, forgery, etc.). The primary requirement is that you have a minimum 4 year college degree, and can pass the FBI's stringent application, polygraph, and background investigation. Most applicants don't make it through the polygraph, as the failure rate is extremely high.
Once you're in though, the sky's the limit. You can learn pretty much anything you want, and the FBI has many post-grad degree programs that they'll pay for.
For Special Agents, prior military or law enforcement experience/skill is helpful, but not required.

∙ 11y agoFirst and foremost, a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation has to be a United States citizen. More specifically, FBI employees have to pass special physical requirements, a detailed background check, and possess a four year college degree.
