Most slaves were employed as household servants to the wealthy. They wore the same clothes as ordinary people. Men wore a linen kilt known as a schenti often tied at the waist with a belt. Female slaves wore tubular dresses with shoulder straps known as a kalasiris. Tomb paintings show slave girls employed as dancers and musicians, wearing little or nothing in the way of clothes, decked out in necklaces and bracelets which left very little to the imagination. If you were an important slave then you wore clothes similar to your owners.

Many male slaves did manual labour such as digging canals, building the massive monuments and temples, working in the quarries or hardest of all, working in the mines. It would have been normal for these men to work naked. It was most likely that they had no clothes at all.
