A knight was a member of the nobility, and that was his class. Anyone of any class could become a knight, however. There were no fixed rules imposed on the monarch who knighted people, in this respect.

Is a medieval knight a medieval noble?

A knight was (and still is) a member of the aristocracy - in the medieval period, the ruling class. They were and are entitled to have their own individual coat of arms and at that time a personal entourage of troops, servants and perhaps a squire training for knighthood. Knights came in a range of different ranks from knight bachelor to earl and some were extremely poor, without lands or money of their own. "Medieval" is defined as the period between the end of the ancient/classical era and the modern era, but there are no specific set dates for these.

What developments in British literature occurred during the Medieval period?

The medieval period was the period in which the Old English had disappeared and the modern English come. It was a transition period. The first poet in modern English was Chaucer. Spencer came later. The modern English of Chaucer itself cannot be now read without a translation.Much could not be expected from that period. In addition to this the social development should also be taken into account. The middle class had then pushed aside the feudalism. In Social set up also it was a transition period. The feudalism had not disappeared and the middle class was yet to assert in the society. After all literature is a mirror of the society.
