The only time I've seen cracked spark plugs was putting them in or taking them out with the socket not perfectly straight.
On a 1965 Ford Mustang , the spark plug gap for the 200 cubic inch straight 6 cylinder engine is .032 - .036 inch
Remove the spark plugs with a 5/8 deep well socket. Turn the socket to the left. Tighten the new spark plugs by turning socket to the right.
