Temperature, pressure, availability of source material, and space available for formation all affect the crystallization process of minerals.
Elements become larger in atomic radius because they have an increased number of electrons, which increases the level of shielding, which causes the nuclear influence to become less strong on the outer level of electrons allowing them to space farther apart.
Well, the following is not related specifically to the hydrosphere, but it is believed that any elements heavier than hydrogen and helium were created through fusion, in stars. A supernova explosion will expel much of that into space, where it can participate in the formation of new solar systems.Well, the following is not related specifically to the hydrosphere, but it is believed that any elements heavier than hydrogen and helium were created through fusion, in stars. The space is not relavent to the measurement, the density would be relavent to space/weight. A smaler atom can be more densethan larger atom but never heavier.

Basically, it was all made when the Earth was created Gold is an element, so it isn't 'created' by the Earth. It exists in the Earth, and has been there since the Earth was formed. Gold can only be created through nuclear reactions. It happens during supernovas. Like all elements heavier than iron, gold was created by the fusion of smaller elements during a massive star's supernova explosion. Most gold formed this way quickly decayed back to stable smaller elements, however some were already stable at formation. These elements stay suspended as dust in space till the process of star and planetary formation cause these elements to eventually condense forming our planet.

At the minute site of the formation of a bubble of boiling, we have some water turning instantaneously to steam. This has a much larger volume than water, and expands VERY rapidly. In this expansion, it forces some water away to make space for the bubble, and it is these forces of expansion, and the reaction to them, that causes the noise.
