It ended it's career in July 2011 when it completed its final mission. It will be on display at the Kennedy Space Center for visitors to see.
NASA's last space shuttle mission, STS-135, launched on July 8, 2011, and concluded on July 21, 2011. This mission was conducted by the shuttle Atlantis and marked the final flight of the Space Shuttle program.
It was designed to fly in space, and its first mission was another test of the space shuttle.
STS-135 is the last space shuttle mission with Atlantis on June 28th 2011.
