gap the plugs between 42 and 46
i have a 1988 ford ranger xlt 4 cylinder and my spark size is 42-46 hope this will help
Bad coil pack or spark plugs...
According to all-parts.com/diagnostics/mechanics/Ford_Mustang_GT.html, "If this is a 5.0 litre, I have the answer... And this one took a lot of hours to find.... The spark plugs have to be gapped at .52 to .54 on this..... Not the .42 to .46 like all the other Fords."
you will need a 5/8 spark plug wrench let the engine cool, then disconnect the negative battery cable remove the spark plug wire from the first plug and remove and replace the plug dont forget to gap the new plugs between 42 and 46 and repeat on the next one be sure to only do 1 at a time as not to mess up the firing order
proper gap is 42-46
1 cause/guess may be that the plugs were too long and the piston pushed them out.if that was the case your would be able to see damage to the plugs, not to mention damage to the pistons . Please look at consumer reports. There is a lot of information about 5.4L Ford engines blowing spark plugs. Speculation is a design flaw, too few threads in the head to properly secure the plugs. Appears to be too common a problem.
Look under the hood and you will find a placard with this information listed. .42-.46 for 7.5L(460 ci)
.46 to .51
It is: 2*23 = 46 and no exponents are needed
46 chromosomes are needed to create a human
