Every gas burning internal combustion engine has spark plugs. Diesel engines do not. Your Impala is not a diesel, so it has plugs.
Look in your owners manual and it will tell you under scheduled maintanence. It should be around 90,000 to 100,000 miles. The AC Delco plugs should be used as your replacements.
To change the spark plugs on a 2004 Chevrolet Impala with a 3.4L motor, first ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the ignition coil by unbolting it and disconnecting the electrical connector. Then, carefully pull the spark plug wires off the spark plugs and use a spark plug socket to remove the old plugs. Install the new spark plugs with the correct torque, reattach the wires and ignition coil, and reconnect the battery terminal.

It is my experience as a shop owner for 22+ years that what the car maker used was the BEST replacement. All plugs nor parts are created equal. You should get 100,000 miles out of the AC Delco plugs and with no driveability problems.
