Harry Potter learnt his first spell on the 31st October 1991, during his first year at Hogwarts. The first years were being taught Wingardium Leviosa by Professor Flitwick in their Charms class.

The first book in the Harry Potter series -- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone -- chronicles Harry's first year. "Alohomora" is a charm and thus would've been taught by Filius Flitwick during Harry Potter's time at Hogwarts.
