The Iroquois Federation should be better known as the Confederacy. It consisted of five Indian Nations: Mohawks, Oneidas, Onondagas, Cayugas, and Senecas, the Tuscaroras became the sixth in 1722. The Confederacy was brought about because of English colonization and brought to an end during the Revolutionary War. This is due in part that the Nations split half siding with British the other half loyal to Colonists.
Around 650,000 soldiers died during the Civil War, with just over half of that number from disease and illness. The civilian numbers are harder to figure.
