The dryness of the climate
Africa is generally the hottest continent throughout the year due to its location near the equator, leading to high temperatures and consistent sunshine. The hottest months tend to be from December to March during the summer season in the Southern Hemisphere.
The dryness of the climate APEX
During the Paleozoic Era, which lasted from about 541 to 252 million years ago, Africa was part of the supercontinent Gondwana. Positioned near the equator, it was primarily situated in the southern hemisphere. Throughout the Paleozoic, Africa underwent significant geological changes, including the formation of mountain ranges and the development of various ecosystems, influenced by its shifting position and climate variations.
The sun is north of the equator for 6 months every year, and south of the equator during the other 6 months. In order to accomplish these gyrations, it crosses the equator twice a year ... on March 21 moving north, and on September 22 moving south.
The equator gets 12 hours of sunlight every day of the year (this only refers to the actual equator, not the Tropics in general, though sunlight doesn't vary much at the low latitudes either).
The equator is called the "equatorial line" or simply "equator." It is an imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, located at 0 degrees latitude. The equator is significant for its consistent climate, as it experiences little variation in temperature throughout the year, and it is also where the sun is directly overhead at noon during equinoxes.
