Prominent Black leaders in 1905 formed a group to come up with answers to issues facing Blacks. In 1906 they were joined by three White activists. Due to inner conflict and low funding, the group disbanded and seven members joined with the NAACP. The Race Riot of 1908 was said to have spurred the group to form.
