What started the precambrian era?

The Precambrian period really doesn't have an upper boundary. When the earth was made it was too hot to keep a crust.

The Hadean basically started with the sun exploding.

The formation of the oldest rock stared the Archean era as we know it. The fossils of visible life ended it.
