Late term is not a set week or month but usually it means from week 20. In the third trimester however it is illegal by a ruling by the US Supreme Court so it is possible not all states have made their own laws about it since it is illegal anyway. From 24 weeks it is premature birth unless the fetus is dead and then it is always allowed due to health reasons doe the mother since the fetus will become toxic to her.

Is it safe to have an abortions when five months pregnant?

Abortions compared between George Bush's last term and Barack Obama's first term?

This is a difficult question to answer, because there is no one place to obtain information about the number of abortions performed in each state each year. If you are asking whether the number of abortions has gone up under President Obama, there is no evidence of this. Actually, based on nation-wide research, the number of abortions has been in decline for years, because many states have made it more difficult to get an abortion, and access to contraception has improved.

Did President Obama pass a law allowing late term abortions since becoming president?

No, he did not. That is an internet myth, spread by certain anti-abortion groups. First, the president cannot pass laws-- only congress does that. And no laws that allow late term abortion on demand were passed by this congress. However, there remains a law that does permit late term abortion under certain circumstances: if the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest, abortion (even late term abortion) may be medically necessary. That law existed before President Obama, and at this point, there is no effort from congress to change it.

What is it called when you miscarry 3times in a row?

Habitual abortion. There are spontaneous abortions (miscarriages) and therapeutic abortions (induced by someone and some means). If you have multiple miscarriages, the term habitual abortion is used to indicate a problem carrying a pregnancy, and does not imply induced abortion.

Are miscarriages abortions?

In medical terminology, any time a pregnancy is interrupted before term, it is called an abortion because the pregnancy was aborted or stopped. Miscarriage is another term for this, however, it implies natural causes leading to the loss of the pregnancy. Induced miscarriages performed through a woman's right to choose, are also abortions and now this terminology has become associated mostly in lay usage with these elective abortions as opposed to a natural miscarriage. But the terminology that is most appropriate in a medical sense for all interruptions of pregnancies, regardless of the cause, is the term "abortion" and in that use of the words, they mean the same.
