No. Squanto was not forced to live in England. He lived with the pilgrims until he passed away in his early eighties.
Squanto, also known as Tisquantum, lived in the region of present-day Massachusetts before being taken captive by an English explorer. After being sold into slavery in Spain, he eventually returned to North America and played a significant role in helping the Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony.
Squanto taught colonists to grow food. Squanto was a Native American who's tribe had been wiped out. When Squanto found out that his tribe had been killed by disease, he went to live with the Wampanoag Indians.
All the inhabitants of Squano's village were killed by a plague while Squanto was in Europe. When the Pilgrims established Plymouth Colony they found the land around Squanto's village had been cleared for agriculture, and they established their fort on the same site. When Squanto discovered the pilgrims, he requested permission to live with them so that he could live on the land of his people. While living with the colonists, he taught them how to plant crops and catch fish in the streams.
Squanto lived for about forty years. Historians estimate that Squanto was born sometime around 1585. He died in November of 1623, so he lived approximately 33 to 42 years.
Squanto is pronounced as SKWAHN-toh, with the emphasis on the first syllable.
