What year did cattle drives end?

The big major cattle drives ended around the early 1900s, when
the railroads became more and more accessible for ranchers to herd
their cattle to. Then came the engine-powered trucks that could be
brought directly to the ranches to haul cattle away to the rail
station. When that began, then that was officially when the cattle
drives ended.
Asked in Cattle Drives and Trails, History of Texas
Why did ranchers in Texas begin to use cattle drive?

Demand for beef in eastern cities, but the railroads did not yet
reach out to the areas of the Texas (and other western) ranches.
Prior to the railroads the cattle drives would have been
prohibitively long and impractical, early western railroads made
cattle drives practical.
After the railroads were extended and cattle could be loaded
directly on the trains without having to take them on long drives,
the cattle drives cease.
