There are currently more than 1,200 vineyards and wineries in the state of California. These vineyards produce 63 different varieties of grapes and wines.
There are many good wines from Virginia wineries. Some of the most well known quality wineries in the state are Thibaut-Janisson, King Family Vineyards, Linden Vineyards, Barboursville Vineyards and Chatham Vineyards. Varieties that do particularly well in the state include Viognier and Cabernet Franc. Many Virginia wineries also produce very good red Bordeaux blends.
