For a state, it's Washington State. They have the most apple orchards in the USA. There is no 'Major' apple company. Many apple growers belong to co-ops and distrubute their apples to major food distributors (Sysco/USFoods, et al) at negotiated prices.
The state of Washington produces nearly half of the US supply of apples.
Producers, consumers, and decomposers are three categories on the food chain. Producers help us because they supply the food that the consumers eat. (Humans are consumers.) Producers are plants. When you eat an apple, (a producer) it is producing energy and food for you so it is helping you.
In the US, Ohio is the biggest manufacturer of plastics and rubber. In the world, The top three producers are Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
