Best Answer

China (Alligator sinensis) and the United States (Alligator mississippiensis) are the only countries holding populations of "true" alligators. Caiman species, which are related to alligators, can be found from southern Mexico through northern Argentina. Crocodiles of many species are found in many tropical waters globally, except in areas from which they have been eliminated by man. These are all "crocodilians"....but alligators themselves are only found in China and the USA

We don't really have crocodiles except in the zoos. We have alligators, which live in the Southern states where there are swamps.
