i just put some 24" sony steros in my alero
is the 2000 Oldsmobile alero 2.4 l a good engine
You can just pull them off. Just get a good grip and pull nice and steady. Then you can just push them back on.
Just unbolt the power steering pump (2 -13mm bolts) and its right there, 2 10mm bolts and the outlet coms out. New one goes in with gasket and silicone and your good to go...
It is a pretty simple task. First take the negative battery cable off then remove the wires from the back of the alternator. Then remove the top bolt and then the lower bolt and pull the alterntor out. Good luck.
To me it is for a few reasons, 1 is yyou are paying more money for the GT meanwhile the reg. grad am was alot cheaper than the alero, all the gt has more that the alero is Ram Air and all that is is the car sucks the air in faster so you get about 2 hp more. however the alero is better built due to the fact that it is an Oldsmobile and because it is from the Cadialic Family so it is good quaility parts, also the alero is a cross bettween a sports car and a luxuary car just by looking at it
There will be a clip on the bottom back side of the shift knob. Pull the clip out and pull up on the knob and it will come off. Put the shifter in lowest gears first because it will make it easier to see what you are doing. Hope this helps. Good luck!
In my opinion, the engine is awesome but the electronics in the car suck. The speakers always go out and half the time the dash lights are on. All the window regulators have gone out on mine. But after you replace all that stock crap, the car is amazing. In my opinion, the car is unbelievable. I have a 2002 Olds Alero with 240,000 miles on it. No motor or trans-axel issues. Have a couple of dummy lights lit up and only had to perform normal maintenance repairs on the car.
There are 3 fuse boxes on an '03 Alero. The block with the horn fuse is under the hood. If you're at the front of the grill looking under the hood, the fuse box is on the drivers side closer to the windshield. It is rectangular (about 6" by 8") and has a fuse symbol with a little lightning bolt on it. The star knob is the only thing that holds the cover on. The horn fuse on mine is #21, a larger gray 4 prong fuse. Good Luck with that one.
The transmission fluid dipstick for the Oldsmobile Alero does not exist. In place of the traditional fluid checking mechanism, the Alero has two caps. One of these is red, is located in the vicinity of the master brake cylinder, and is for refilling transmission fluid. The other cap, or plug, is 15mm and roughly halfway down the transmission. Loosen it carefully. If fluid comes out, the transmission fluid is good. If not, however, more fluid must be added.
7 quarts if you are changing the filter and draining it. The darn thing does not have a transmission dipstick so check the owners manual for exact amount. You should be good with about 6 to 7 quarts no matter what.
First of all how do you know your head is warped cracked or no good lets start at the beginning
Inside The Gas Tank. To Replace It You Will Have To Remove The Fuel Tank. Pretty Rough Job. Take It To A Good Garrage, Unless You Want To Tackle It Good Luck
