A hermit crab usually eats when it is dark or moist. the humider the environment the more it will eat.
Hermit crabs do not bite, they pinch. When a hermit crab pinches you that means that they are intimidated and stressed out, and possibly hungry. In your crabitat there should always be fresh food available to your hermit crab so it does not starve. Yes, hermit crabs don't usually fight. You could give the new hermit crab a bath so that it smells the same as the other hermit crab in you tank.
A hermit crab lives in saltwater or brackish water near the shoreline. Hermit crabs can also be kept as pets and live well in special tanks. There are several sub-species of the Hermit Crab (more akin to the lobster family) and they can be found in every ocean.
They usually don't have a bad smell. The cage is more likely.

Advantages: With a shell, the hermit crab is safer from predators, or any other threats. It is basically more protected. The snails have less shells lying around because a hermit crab is probably constantly looking for a new one. Disadvantages: The snail's shell is heavy on the hermit crab's back, so it slows it down. A hermit crab outgrows its shell and will have to find a new one soon. The snail has no disadvantages. I hope I helped you! Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for! :)
Yes. Petco has hermit crabs. I currently have a hermit crab from petco. But if you buy one get more than one because they are happier together.
