Mullet Fingers is concerned about the burrowing owls in the story "Hoot" because their habitat is at risk of being destroyed by a construction project. He wants to protect them from harm and prevent the owls from losing their homes.
In the novel "Hoot" by Carl Hiaasen, the dynamic characters are the ones who undergo significant internal changes throughout the story. Some examples of dynamic characters in the book include Roy Eberhardt, who starts off as a new kid trying to fit in but becomes more confident and stands up for what is right. Mullet Fingers is another dynamic character, as he evolves from a mysterious runaway to a passionate environmental activist. Dana Matherson also experiences growth as he transitions from being a bully to showing empathy and understanding towards others.
The climax of the story occurs when Roy, Beatrice, and Mullet Fingers, along with many of the students at Trace Middle School, stand up to the executives of Mother Paula's Pancake House to protect the Burrow Owls.
