Sraddhadeva Manu was a mythological king who was born to Saranya and Vaivasvata in Hindu culture. He became king of Dravida, and was warned by a talking fish named Matsya that a Great Flood was approaching the Earth when Manu caught him. Matsysa later grew into a giant fish, and told Manu to build a boat so he can protect his family, his livestock and other animals, and his grainstock along with Saptarshi (the seven sages) to which Manu did. When the flood arrived, Matsya towed the ship by a cable attached to his horn and Manu and the others were saved. Manu became the first king to rule the Earth after the Great Flood, and married Shraddha to which they began a new civilization.
A midrash (non-binding Judaic opinion or folk story) from early in the Common Era, said that Noah allowed the king of the giants to cling to the roof of the ark during the Flood.
