Well this is really a personal preference thing. I personally use Ernie Ball 9-42 and 10-46 on my Les Paul (copy).
Experiment with different strings and see what you like best. Remember to make any necessary adjustments to the truss rod when changing string GAUGE.
So there isn't really "best" strings for an Epihone Les Paul I'm afraid.
