The tough, transparent cover of the eye is called the cornea. It helps to protect the eye and refracts light that enters the eye to help focus it on the retina.
The internal structures of the eye include components like the retina, lens, vitreous humor, and optic nerve, which work together to process visual information and transmit it to the brain. External structures refer to the parts of the eye that are visible from the outside, such as the cornea, sclera, iris, and eyelids, which protect the eye and help regulate the amount of light that enters. Together, these structures enable vision and protect the eye from injury and infection.
The conjunctiva covers the inner surface of the eyelids and the outer surface of the eye (except for the cornea). It helps protect and lubricate the eye.
integumentary system- skin, nail,hair, ect.
This is the outermost layer of the eye excepting the cornea. It is composed of dense fibrous tissue to protect the internal eye structures and is also where the external ocular muscles insert to allow you to move your eyes.
The lacrimal glands produce tears that cleanse and protect the eye by keeping the surface moist and washing away irritants. The tears are then spread across the eye by blinking and other movements of the eyelids.
The outer transparent protective cover of the eyeball is the cornea. It helps protect the eye and refracts light to focus it on the retina at the back of the eye.
The structures that cover and protect the buds of a flower are known as sepals. These are essentially leaves that have been modified.
The adnexa of the eye refers to the surrounding structures that support and protect the eye itself. This includes the eyelids, eyelashes, lacrimal glands (which produce tears), and the surrounding connective tissues. These structures play vital roles in maintaining eye health, providing lubrication, and protecting the eye from foreign particles and injury. Overall, the adnexa contribute to the overall function and comfort of the visual system.
