Strong acids completely ionize, creating Hydronium Ions (H3O).

Strong bases completely dissociate to create Hydroxide Ions (OH).

Salts also produce ions.

Anything that produces ions when dissolved in water, will create electrolytes.

Electrolytes are things like salt that make the water able to conduct electricity.

Fact: Water itself does not conduct electricity, it is the electrolytes and other things that inevitably fall into the water that make it able to conduct electricity.
