ccl4 will dissolve better in water because likes dissolves likes, H2O is non-polar an CCL4 is also non polar where as ch2cl2 is polar(different to water) there for it wont dissolve in water but CCL4 will
^^This is not true: water is polar. Therefore, since CCl4 is non-polar, and CH2Cl2 is polar, and like dissolves like, CH2Cl2 is more soluble.
CCl4 is a non-polar molecule. Keep in mind the phrase "Like dissolves like." A non-polar molecule will be soluble in other non-polar molecules, as polar molecules will not be soluble in non-polar molecules, and vice versa. So the answer to your question is any non-polar molecule will generally be soluble in CCl4.
Hope this helps.
CCl4 - it is nonpolar, like Br2
Br2 > NCl3 > H2O
H2o
It has to do with intermolecular forces. H2O has an oxygen with two hydrogens coming off of it. This forms two hydrogen bonds, which are much stronger than the London Dispersion Forces in CCl4. (Since CCl4 is non-polar, there are no Dipole-Dipole forces).
Br2/H2O
Br2 + 3NaHSO3 = 2NaBr + NaHSO4 + H2O + 2SO2
NO
Br2 > NCl3 > H2O

Yes, they will form a homogenous mixture.
CaCl2
CCl4 is insoluble in water because it is non polar whereas water is polar. Polar substances are soluble in polar substances and nonpolar in nonpolar Polarity is determined by the electro-negativity of the atoms in the molecule as well as the arrangement of the atoms. in CCl4 the electrons are pulled towards the Cl and the arrangement ensures that the outside of the molecule is evenly negative while the inside is positive in H2O, the electrons are pulled towards the Oxygen but the arrangement of the molecules means that one side of the molecule is partially negative while the other side is partially positive P.S. look up the structures of both molecules and this will become more clear
A H2O molecule is bent and a CCl4 is tetrahedral.
