Caliber is .243, buy ammo in .243.
Adjust? You mean to remove or tighten? There is a threaded tightening bolt right in front of the receiver over the barrel.
Remington Model 24 serial no#s were from 00001 to 130,425.Don't know what you mean by long spur and rifle model RW408700?
Doesn't mean anything other then it's a model 1100.The serial won't help you unless you call Remington but It's date stamped on the barrel. Check the Remington Society of America's manufactured date link for details.
Markings typically include model, The Remington trademark, date of manufacture, test marks, inspectors, and proof mark. In some cases it may be a factory repair mark, or indication of Magnaflux testing. See the link below for an illustration of barrel code markings. Note these are for REMINGTON only.
If the letters apear on the left side of the barrel above the reciver it will help you scipher the date of manufactor.
The anchor marking is a final inspection proofmark. It has no connotation with any naval service. www.countrygunsmith.net
KD stands for damascus barrel I do not know what the Y stands for. You should not fire the gun with a damascus barrel because it is weaker and might explode with modern shells
Which ones? The barrel? That's a date code. Check Remington Society of America - manufactured date link.
I don't see dbl in Remington, if you mean the dbl in general when when referring to a Remington firearm that's double as in double barrel shotgun, derringer, etc.
I'm assuming that you are referring to the Remington Model Eleven? (11) shotgun? That anchor stamp is most likely that of an inspector who was issued that stamp symbol and stamped the barrel after it was "proofed", which means that it survived a higher pressure load than what would normally be used for hunting, etc.
The 1100 designation for a Remington shotgun is the model number. Remington makes the 1100 model in a trap version and a field version.
