I'm not sure of the book you speak, but i know that Minos presented a spiral seashell to Daedalus at one point, or planned to, and asked that a string be run through the middle of it. The task was completed by Daedalus placing a drop of honey on the end and having an ant run the string through the shell on its way to the honey. Does this help?

Frederick Babbel wrote "On Wings of Faith"
Daedalus,Athenas son was an architect. He made the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth is connected to him and if he dies the Labyrinth dies (dissapears). The Labyrinth is a maze full of traps and monsters which orginated from Greek Mythology. Daedalus was trapped by King Milos. Daedalus had a son who died as they were escaping from Milos and his men. Milos later on died. I got this info from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series book #4. The Percy Jackson series is great if your interested in Greek Mythology. I would recommanded reading it. Hope this helped!
The mood of "Daedalus and Icarus" can be described as intense and tragic, filled with a sense of impending doom as the characters strive to escape but ultimately meet a disastrous end. The tone is cautionary, warning against overreaching and the consequences of disobeying authority.
Wings of Fire was published in 1999 by Universities Press.
