There are several different ways to do this, depending on what the ink is; we'd need more detail in order to answer definitively. Some possibilities: * Distillation * Filtration * Centrifugation * Chromatography
chromatography
You can use the filter paper or chromatography paper to separate the different components in black ink.
heat it and let the water condense into a clean beaker.
Of course, using a magnet (electromagnet). This is valid for many mixtures.
Mix in a little water, dissolve the sugar. Filter to separate the bird seed. Evaporate the water and the sugar crystals will reappear.
They have been chosen and formulated so as to remain uniform. Compare with paints, where it is exceptional to avoid mixing before use.
Chromatography

You can use Chromatography.
evaporation
wouldn't you just use chromotography paper and separate the colours? Bluebeth x
Chromatography cannot be used because biro ink does not dissolve in water. I actually dont know how to separate the colors in Biro ink.. :( sorry, but look it up on google.com!
