While it is questionable that the Aztecs invented popcorn, historians agree they certainly popularized it. The same for using chocolate-- there is evidence the Mayas and Incas also made use of it, but it is closely identified with the Aztecs. As for technology the Aztecs developed, they made interesting mathematical observations which they used for calculating time: they had a calendar which was based on 18 months and 360 days; their measurements of time also included observations about astronomy. Despite not having iron or bronze, they were able to make very effective tools and weapons, including drills, axe blades, spears, etc, using obsidian, chert, copper and stone. Their knowledge of medicine included use of herbal remedies that prevented muscle spasms. They were aware of the wheel, but only used it in toys.

Despite all the skills mentioned, the lack of certain religious, social, governmental and diplomatic skills lead to their down fall. There lives were too full of violence.
