In addition, the geographical significance of the "7" (inner London) or "8" (outer London) has been lost with regard to new number issues, so that, for example, some newly allocated numbers in central London now begin with an "8". As for the 3286, although initially the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh numbers had geographical significance that is no longer true for newly issued numbers.
