How can you tell if a person is a compulsive liar or bipolar?

Bipolar people are very "changey." My brother is bipolar and sometimes he is the coolest, happiest guy in the world, then the next time I call him he won't talk, or he'll be really upset, or I won't be able to get ahold of him. There are a lot of ups and downs, sudden ones; it's not normal moods -- they are exaggerated. Anyway, yeah, if you think someone is bipolar try to get them to a psych. Chronic lying isn't a symptom of being bipolar, but only a qualified physician can make a real diagnosis.

Is bipolar contagious?

Is taking 300mgs of triliptal to much for a 65 lb 10 year old?

Is the patient being treated for epilepsy or Bipolar Affective Disorder? If the usage is for epilepsy, trust your doctor about dosage. As to the off-label usage, few drugs for the treatment of Bipolar Affective Disorder have been proven to the FDA to be safe and effective in the treatment of Bipolar patients below age 18. Trileptal IS NOT one of the drugs proven to be safe and effective. Questions to ask your child's doctor; -Why this drug? Are there other options? If so, have they been proven safe and effective in this age group? -How can we know that your diagnosis is correct? Ten years old is exceptionally young (statistically extremely unlikely) for an onset of Bipolar Affective Disorder?

Your daughter has ADHD and bipolar she is on 40mg of Vyvanse and 12mg serequel all the sudden she is behaving strange what are some other options besides serequel?

Let me begin by saying that I hope your daughter is being followed by a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner that specializes in working with children. I am not a doctor, however I have worked with individuals, of all ages, with a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder. A diagnosis of bipolar disorder and ADHD is not uncommon, but it can be difficult to treat, because many medications used to treat ADHD can trigger Bipolar Mania. I would not be surprised if the vyvanse triggers symptoms of mania at various times of the year. I would continue taking seroquel, discontinue the vyvanse, and start Straterra. Honestly, (again, I am not a physician) the only ADHD med that I trust, with an individual who has Bipolar, is Straterra. Straterra is not typically prescribed to children, however it is the only medication that treats ADHD which is not a stimulant. Check out my previous post about Bipolar Treatments: What are effective treatments for bipolar disorder Be well.

Yes and no. Classic BP-I requires full manic episodes, but there is a new diagnosis of BP-II that requires only mild hypomanic episodes. These hypomanic episodes may be too small to notice.
