Total surprise. At the Battle of San Jacinto, General Santa Anna, the Mexican dictator, let his troops take a siesta because he believed that the Texans wouldn't attack until the morning. He was wrong. The Texans attacked in the middle of the Mexican troops' siesta.

No, not really The Mexicans were not ready to fight and the Texans were not prepared for the supplies but by luck the Texans won...This is about the Goliad Massacre...I am sooo sorry if you meant the Alamo because in the Siege of the Alamo only the Mexicans were prepared because the Texans were short on soldiers or else they would have won. :D
