Winners keep advancing until there is only one. Double elimination: Use same principle as single, but you will need an additional chart for looser rounds. Winner on both charts will play each other until 2 loses and there is only one. Good luck!!!

After all of the group stage matches have been played, the top two teams with the most points from each group advance to the knock out stage of the tournament. The two bottom teams from each group are eliminated from the tournament. The rest of the tournament is a single elimination knock out tournament where the last standing team is awarded the world cup.

How do you seed teams in a 6 team single elimination tournament?
Seed the teams in order of the results of pool play. The 1 seed will play the 6 seed. The 2 seed will play the 5 seed. The 3 seed will play the 4 seed. Then from that, the team with the highest seed will earn a bye (they won't have to play a game this elimination bracket and are automatically placed in the championship game bracket). Then the two remaining teams will play. The winner will play the team who earned the bye. The winner of this game will be the champions of this tournament.

An explanation on how a 'bye' is used in a pool tournament?
In any single elimination pool tournament with an odd number of players or teams, a by is always neecssary. This is one reason double elimination can be slightly more "fair", or points are used. Players or team are paired, 1 to 1, but with an odd number in any round, a player has no one to play. This player gets advanced to the next round as if he/she had a win, and this is called a "bye". The play should be arranged such that no player or team gets more than one bye.

What is a double elimination tournament?
A double elimination tournament means you have to lose twice before being eliminated from the competition. If you lose once, you are sent to the "losers' bracket". In the losers' bracket you are allowed to continue competing against other teams that have also lost once. If you lose a second time you are eliminated. The winner of the losers' bracket places third in the overall competition.
