Mid-Atlantic Chain
The Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
The Mid-Atlantic Ridge isn't just the world's longest chain of undersea mountains, it's longer than any of those found on land. The ridge, that lies roughly in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is just one of a chain of ridges that encircle the globe. The ridge, which runs from inside the Arctic Circle south past the Horn of Africa, extends for 15,000 km (9,300 miles), and some of the peaks rise 4km (2.49miles) above the ocean floor.
