yes. save a minecraft skin, any kind, then open up your minecraft.jar folder using winrar. after this go to mob then there should be a file called char.png, open up your saved minecraft skin and rename it char (just char). then (while having both side to side) drag your new minecraf skin and drop it into the mob folder. check your minecraft after. hope this helped.
Yes, Mojang was trying to design a pig, but the length of the body was switched with the width of the body, so the mob turned out to have 4 legs with a body standing tall. So, they created a whole new mob out of it. That was the birth of the creeper.
