As to the last point: they threw up an earth wall next to the wall they were building in the form of a ramp, and using tree trunks as rollers, pulled the stones up to the top of the ramp which was then as high as the top of the unfinished pyramid. Finally they removed all the earth ramps and left the pyramid standing free.
