Because of its digestive system. Taken from wikipedia.
The biggest affect on the digestive system is that it will all weaken. It can even weaken to the point where it cannot handle food or fluids if it is actually taken in.

The digestive system breaks down food that you eat. As it moves through the digestive system, the nutrients in the foods (ex. proteins, vitamins, etc.)are taken out and the rest is excreted. The digestive system gives you your energy and your nutrients. Without it, the food that you eat wouldn't be put to use. If you don't have a good, healthy digestive system, your digestive organs will not function as well and you will not receive all of the nutrients possible.
The digestive system is what the body uses to process the food that is taken in through the mouth. It breaks the food down for many areas to use and then gets rid of the waste.
Its functions begin when food is taken into the mounth or oral cavity
The digestive system produces nutrients that are required for the cells all over the body to survive. The nutrients are brought to the cells by the circulatory system, and the wastes produced by the excretory system are taken away from the cells.
No bats have a one way digestive system. Food goes in the mouth, is digested, and comes out the other end. In two way digestive systems food is taken in and waste is excreted through the same opening.
When swallowing food it enters into your digestive system through your esophagus. Air that is taken into your system enters the windpipe. The epiglottis which is a flap located between the esophagus and windpipe covers the windpipe so that food does not enter it by mistake. This allows for food and air to stay separated in the digestive system.
the connection between these two systems are obvious. The energy system digests food and turns into nutrients so that your body can use it. Whatever is not needed in your body is being taken care of by the waste system.
